SANDY KIPP ILES is a professional freelance flutist and music educator in the Greater Los Angeles area. She has taught private flute lessons since 1979 and has been on the faculty of Cal State University, Northridge since 1997. Sandy has also been on the faculty of Moorpark College, Pasadena City College, Pepperdine University, Glendale Community College, Idyllwild Summer Arts Festival, and the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. In addition to teaching flute, Sandy has also taught Music Theory, Appreciation, Pedagogy, Entrepreneurship, Chamber Music, History, and Wind Masterclass. She is a sought-after masterclass teacher and evaluator. Sandy conducts the Sterling Flute Choir, created the California Music Merit Program for dedicated flute students, and publishes music for flute and chamber ensembles. She has performed with such orchestras as the LA Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Long Beach Symphony, Opera Pacific, Pacific Symphony, Los Angeles Classical Ballet, Moscow Ballet Orchestra, and New West Symphony, among other professional ensembles. Sandy enjoys a tremendously varied career, loves cats, and is married to Los Angeles trombonist, Alex Iles.
