Alexander Tcherepnin's (1899-1977) Bagatelles are some his finest keyboard works. The 10 miniatures (about 2-4 pages) are filled with contemporary techniques. Rapid finger technique is developed in the fast brilliant pieces, while lyrical pieces develop musical balance. Lynn Freeman Olson's edition includes helpful study notes from her careful research.
