Dances for Solo Piano
Justly celebrated for his orchestral music, Antonin Dvo_‡k was also a gifted composer of keyboard works. This original collection features a variety of his richly Romantic piano pieces, from minuets to mazurkas to waltzes. Suitable for intermediate-level pianists, these selections include the Czech composer's beloved Scottish Dances, Op. 41, and Slavonic Dances, Opp. 46 and 72.
Before the publication of his Slavonic Dances, Dvo_‡k was a relative unknown in the music world. Johannes Brahms introduced Dvo_‡k to his own publisher, and the success of Dvo_‡k's folksong-inspired Moravian Duets encouraged the composer to attempt another series with a dance-like character. Drawing upon the characteristic rhythms of Slavonic folk music, Dvo_‡k created original melodies that secured his enduring fame. This compilation of his dance music for solo piano will enchant performers and listeners alike.
