A Systematic Approach to Voice Excercises (Van de Graaff)
This book contains over 150 exercises. Many of these are standard exercises already used by teachers while others are based on actual arias and songs by composers, such as Handel, Purcell, Bach, Mozart and Donizetti. The exercises are organized into seven sections, each focusing on a specific goal. However, each exerciese may be used for a variety of purposes. For example, an exercise from the section on vowels may be sung very slowly to work on sostenuto or quickly to work agility. A must for every serious singer. As the 17th century English composer William Byrd said, "Since singing is so good a thing, I wish all men could sing." Enjoy!
