Schubert, Franz - Sonata ''Arpeggione'' in A minor, D. 821 ed. Janos Starker & Emilio Colon - Cello & Piano
Sonata in A minor "Arpeggione", D. 821
by SCHUBERT, Franz Peter (1797-1828) (Composer),
STARKER, Janos (b. 1924) (Editor), COLON, Emilio (b. 1967) (Editor)
The "Arpeggione" Sonata is one of the troubled works in our literature. It was written for a rarely-used instrument, and a variety of transcriptions make it a kind of free-for-all for interpreters. None of these versions is easy, but the Sonata's beauty, humor and song-like slow movement with it Erlkönig similarity make it worth the effort to enrich our palette and recreate the Viennese flavor.
Year: 1824
Period: Romantic
Category: Violoncello(s) & Keyboard, Violoncello, Strings, Instrumental
Genre: Transcriptions, Sonatas, German
