Faure, Gabriel - Sicilienne, Opus 78 ed. Roy Howat - Violin (or Viola) & Piano - Urtext
Sicilienne Op. 78
Composed by Gabriel Faure
Urtext Edition by Roy Howat
Description (Translated from German by Google Translate)
Faures Sicilienne is available in different versions. The piece was originally composed in 1893 as part of a music course, but then recorded in 1898 in Maeterlincks Pelleas et Melisande as an introduction to the fountain scene. Faure himself made an excerpt for piano as well as a version for violoncello and piano. For the most part, the arrangement for violin is that the cello part from Faure's own version has been shifted one or two octaves upwards. The viola voice follows, wherever necessary, Faure's cello part, which in the original often moves in the middle and upper registers of the cello and offers itself for a performance on the viola. The strings will find out how meticulously Faure phrasing in terms of the Bogenfuhrung sets; this relationship was not apparent due to the inaccuracy of previous expenditure.
Arrangement: Violin and piano (VLN/PF) Includes Viola part for Violin
