Lalo, Edouard - Violoncello Concerto in D minor ed. Janos Starker & Emilio Colon - Cello & Piano

The Lalo Concerto is one of those works that cello teachers give high school students at an age when the basics of instrumental playing have yet to be developed. No wonder that in the concert repertory of today this Concerto is rarely, if ever, found. Though Lalo was French, he had a strong affinity for the Spanish idiom. If properly executed, this Concerto is a vehicle for virtuoso display, and is a delightful piece of music.
