Robert Schumann (1810–1856)
5 Pieces in Folk Style Op. 102 (5 Stuecke im Volkston)
Urtext edited by Joachim Draheim [vc,pno]

Composed in 1849, Schumann's most productive year, the Stuecke im Volkston Op. 102 are Schumann's only surviving original work for violoncello and piano. The Fuenf Stuecke im Volkston op. 102 belong to the group of chamber works from the years 1849 to 1851, in which Schumann experimented with a previously neglected instrument in the form of a duo with piano.

Stueck No. 1: Mit Humor
Stueck No. 2: Langsam
Stueck No. 3: Nicht schnell, mit viel Ton zu spielen
Stueck No. 4: Nicht zu rasch
Stueck No. 5: Stark und markiert

The present Urtext edition of the violin arrangement which Schumann himself prepared with meticulous care takes the first edition of 1851 as its principal source
