Hymn Descants, Set 1 by Benjamin M. Culli, B-flat or C Instruments
Benjamin M. Culli’s collection of hymn descants provides festive treatment to hymn singing. Each descant is provided over the melody in both C and B-flat and is reproducible. While the descants were written to be idiomatic for trumpet, they may be played by other instruments. The descants and melodies correspond to the keys and harmonizations found in Lutheran Service Book: Accompaniment for the Hymns, so the pieces were written to have the keyboardist play from that book.
