Whereas Volume One deals with the melodic embellishment of chords, Volume 2 offers material based on the melodic embellishment of scales and chords. These include the embellishment of individual tones of different scales, individual chords within the setting of a key (major and melodic minor), the individual chords that move transiently through implied chords (circle of fifths dominant seventh chords embellishment). Accordingly, chord relationships, voice leading, and the sense of key (rather than the embellishment of isolated chords outside of a particular key) are all relevant to the studies of this volume.
