Fletcher, Leila - Piano Course: Lesson Book 1 - Piano Method Series
Leila Fletcher Piano Course Book 1
Publisher: Music Sales America
Author: Leila Fletcher
Book One, published in 2003, no longer has the abundance of finger numbers as in previous editions, thus reducing the student's dependence on them. Students begin reading early elementary, child-oriented, eight-measure tunes from the grand staff immediately, in middle C position, one hand at a time. Nursery songs, folk songs and charming originals by the author are included. The right hand moves up to middle D position for several tunes and then both hands play in middle D position. C Major position is introduced towards the end of the book. Students play repeated harmony notes, harmonic seconds and thirds in the second half of the book. Teacher duet parts are supplied for more than 19 pieces, broadening the pupil's musical experience, and also adding interest to the early-grade recital. A unique pull-out keyboard chart displaying the notes in middle C position is included with Book One.
"For the beginner. Sixty four pages, graded so that progress is almost automatic. Interest catching pieces from the very beginning. Duet parts supplied for 19 pieces and for 3 rote pieces that broaden the pupils musical experience and add interest to the early grade recital. This new edition continues to offer the same sound pedagogical approach but with edited fingerings to reduce dependency on fingering numbers, many illustrations have also been modernized. In Book One, a pull-out Keyboard Chart is included and is designed so it will always be placed in correct position on the keyboard.".
