This set of sonatas is of great historical value, because it is among the first significant examples of the classic sonata based on two themes, the form of so many masterpieces. In preparing these highly interesting works, Jean Langlais followed the intentions of C.P.E. Bach in showing a little-known conception of the art of organ in 18th century Germany.
