Pachelbel, Johann - Canon arr. Daniel Dorff in G Major - Cello & Piano
This straightforward, yet beautiful arrangement of the famous tune will requires sensitive musicianship and good technique, but is such a fine piece, it practically plays itself.
Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706) Johann Pachelbel was a leading organist and composer of the Baroque period. Most of his compositions are sacred choral music and organ solos featuring elaborate counterpoint. He was a well-respected teacher, and one of his students was J.S. Bachs father. Pachelbel composed his Canon and Gigue in D Major for 3 Violins and Continuo, or bass-andchords accompaniment. The term canon signifies that all three violinists played the same part, starting at different times, just like a round. Pachelbels Canon is also a chaconne, which means it is built over a repeating chord progression.
